Star-Studded Cast of BBC America’s Real History of Science Fiction Announced!

BBC America is putting together a 4-part series called The Real History of Science Fiction, and it’s got some of the biggest and most respected names in the genre talking about how it all came to be.

We’re talking William Shatner, Nathan Fillion, Zoe Saldana, Steven Moffat, David Tennant, Ronald D. Moore, Neil Gaiman, Edward James Olmos AND MORE. Here’s the synopsis from the BBC America site:

“From Star Wars to 2001: A Space Odyssey, and from Jurassic Park to Doctor Who, each program is packed with contributors behind these creations and traces the developments of Robots, Space, Invasion and Time. Narrated by Mark Gatiss, Doctor Who writer, actor, and co-creator of the BBC’s Sherlock, the series determines why science fiction is not merely a genre… for its audience it’s a portal to a multi-verse – one that is all too easy to get lost in.”

Trailer Watch – Orphan Black, Season 2

Just released is a trailer that’s sure to have eyeballs awooga-ing all across the Internet.

Space’s original series Orphan Black is coming back for season 2, and if you haven’t seen this show, you NEED to watch it – if not for the mind-bending plot turns and cool sci-fi action, then for Tatiana Maslany’s acting alone.

For those who have seen it – there are. No words. Let’s get on with it:

Orphan Black returns on April 19th, 2014.

The Official Game of Thrones…Rap Mixtape?

Brethren and wenches, gather ’round: this one’s so crazy, you can’t make it up.

If there wasn’t enough going on in the Seven Kingdoms and Essos, or enough outside of it with behind-the-scenes footage, new trailers and fresh posters, the HBO machine is set to pump out a Game of Thrones rap mixtape just in time for season 4.

No. That is not a typo. A Game of Thrones. Rap. Mixtape.

According to an article on, rappers Wale, Common, Daddy Yankee, Big Boi, Bodega Bamz and Snow Tha Product are working on Catch the Throne, detailing the events and themes of the series to date.

I don’t know about you, but I personally want to see some accompanying music videos – Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Jack Gleeson and Emilia Clarke lip-syncing to beats in character would probably blow up the Internet.

The track will be released on Soundcloud sometime before the season 4 premiere on April 6th. In the meantime, witness this promo to prove this whole post isn’t an early April Fool’s prank:

UPDATE: Catch the Throne has just been released on Soundcloud!

All 18 Game of Thrones Season 4 Posters

A plague of posters has descended on the Interwebz with the release of the key poster art for the upcoming Game of Thrones season 4. HBO’s been very smart about their releases too, allocating certain posters to certain media sites. Crafty, crafty.

When it all comes down to it, though, “valar morghulis“, as they say. Which, if my High Valyrian isn’t too rusty, translates to “It doesn’t matter, they’ve all ended up on the Internet anyway.” Or something like that.

For convenience’s sake, we’ve assembled all 18 posters in one place for your viewing pleasure, covering a bevvy of characters from Westeros and Essos you love to hate and hate to love. Let’s get down to it, shall we?

Extended Sneak Peek of Game of Thrones Season 4

Just posted to HBO’s Game of Thrones YouTube channel is the most revealing look to date at the upcoming season 4.

Almost 15 minutes in length, this behind-the-scenes featurette talks with the producers and cast as they share thoughts on the end of season 3, what’s to come in season 4 and where everybody’s at emotionally (answer: all over the place).

Plus (like you needed more reasons), your favourite Westerosi friends answer select Twitter questions! So, will you be watching season 4?

Doctor Who Travels Into Cards Against Humanity

As the Weekend of Board Games dawns for me (when you’re going to be playing them for two days straight, I think capitalization is perfectly apt), stumbling across this little nugget of gold is perfect.

Cards Against Humanity is a party game that’s taken the world by storm. If you haven’t played, the basic concept is that all players are dealt a hand of white cards up front; each round, one person acts as the Card Czar and flips over a black card with a question or fill-in-the-blank phrase. The players then need to look through their hands and select the card they think is the best fit with the black card. Hilarity ensues.

Did I mention a lot of these questions, phrases and answers are pretty explicit? It’s like grown-up Apples to Apples.

The best part, however, is that Cards Against Humanity is available for free under the Creative Commons license, and as such, people have been creating their own cards and integrating them into the game. The latest, wildly popular theme? Doctor Who, of course.

Now you can take all your favourite sayings, thoughts and jokes from the show and make something magical with fellow Whovians! So if you’re feeling game, you can download the entire “Cards Against Gallifrey” deck from DropCanvas right now.

Game of Thrones Season 4 Trailer

On the heels of some wildly unsatisfying 6-second Vine teasers released this week on the Game of Thrones Twitter account finally comes something we can really sink our teeth into!

The Game of Thrones season 4 trailer debuted last night just before 9pm – and this thing is juicy. Packed with whinging Joffrey, wildlings at the Wall and a glimpse of Prince Oberyn Martell, Dorne’s dangerous Red Viper, season 4 looks to be just as good as the previous seasons.

Check it out for yourself and decide what you think:

Game of Thrones Season 4 Gets an Airdate

Commoners, rejoice! HBO has announced that season 4 of Game of Thrones will be returning on April 6, 2014.

We’ve all waited nearly a year to see how things will progress after the twisty ending of season 3, and there are reports that season 4 will take quite a detour from the book’s plot. While season 4 is technically covering the second half of the third book, fans are also speculating there isn’t enough source material to span an entire season… so what’s going to be added?

Regardless of how you feel about the series’ treatment in the realm of TV, the Internet is going to be an absolute hotbed of GoT watchers from now until April 6th. In fact, if you haven’t caught up on the show and somehow missed spoilers about season 3′s gruesome end (that’s not a spoiler, I swear), now would be a good time to hop on that.

What’s also scary is how fast the TV show seems to be moving while George R. R. Martin’s still dragging his heels on the last 2 books. I guess you don’t earn the nickname the Great Bearded Glacier by being speedy. Or lean shaven, at that.

Star Trek Does ‘Let It Snow’

‘Tis the season for cheer and Christmas carols, but, uh… what happens when you’re warping through the depths of space far from home? What season is it then?

I imagine this is a typical problem for the crew of the Enterprise, many of whom would love to let it snow. But there isn’t snow in deep space either! So what’s a member of Starfleet to do?

Luckily, Picard and his stalwart crew of officers has the solution:

Trailer Watch – Community Season 5

If you’re a Community fan, you’re eagerly anticipating the arrival of season 5 – more Greendale, more study group, more timelines, more Dan Harmon!

But maybe you’ve been busy – it’s the holidays, after all, and everyone’s schedules are on crack. Maybe you’ve missed one hell of a trailer.

Don’t worry, fellow Greendalian – we’ve got your back. Below lies an entire 2 minutes and 31 seconds of something that is so wonderfully beyond the ragtag study group of earlier seasons, it’s almost not recognizable. I present to you: the Community season 5 trailer:
