Trailer Watch – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

The Internet’s blowing up today with the first look at the Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

From such a short look, it’s tough to say what it’ll be like. I kind of agree with this YouTuber:

Also, I have to note that I really don’t buy Megan Fox as April O’Neil. She just… isn’t. Hopefully, I’m wrong about that and she knocks it out of the park – though I’ll be holding my breath until I see more. Check it out for yourself and leave a comment below!

Trailer Watch – X-Men: Days of Future Past

Braaaaaand new Days of Future Past trailer here!

It looks dark, or at least a little darker than your average Marvel movie – but I like it. The desperation over being on the verge of extinction feels real too, and then throw time travel and manipulation of events into things…

…hoooo, you’ve got a late spring blockbuster on your hands. May 23rd, here we come!

Trailer Watch – The Signal

Hot off the trailer press (it’s a actual machine, guys) comes sci-fi pshychological thriller The Signal, starring Laurence Fishburne and Brenton Thwaites. The plot follows two MIT grads with a passion for hacking as they encounter something very strange in the Nevada desert.

It looks like a mend-bending but beautifully shot trek into the imagination. And there’s more – ruagitated.com confronts the us with an interactive computer terminal that no doubt lets on to some secrets – with the right commands…

Check out the trailer below, or the crazed teaser here. The Signal hits theatres in June 2014.

P.S. I may have lied about that trailer press thing.

Trailer Watch – Orphan Black, Season 2

Just released is a trailer that’s sure to have eyeballs awooga-ing all across the Internet.

Space’s original series Orphan Black is coming back for season 2, and if you haven’t seen this show, you NEED to watch it – if not for the mind-bending plot turns and cool sci-fi action, then for Tatiana Maslany’s acting alone.

For those who have seen it – there are. No words. Let’s get on with it:

Orphan Black returns on April 19th, 2014.

Trailer Watch – Transformers: Age of Extinction

Okay, so at 43 seconds long it’s actually more of a teaser, but it appears Michael Bay is climbing back on his old mechanized horse for Transformers: Age of Exinction:

I don’t know where to begin here. I guess it’d be pretty cool to turn your face into a gun (although, ouch?). And then things get really interesting as the movie’s theme really comes to light – dinosaurs. Mechanized, weapon-toting, transformer-riding dinosaurs. From space.

You’ve made me nervous, Michael. New cast, new story… movie #4. Movie #4′s rarely exist for a reason: your story miiiight be done, dude.

Transformers: Age of Extinction‘s release date is set for Summer 2014.

Game of Thrones Season 4 Trailer

On the heels of some wildly unsatisfying 6-second Vine teasers released this week on the Game of Thrones Twitter account finally comes something we can really sink our teeth into!

The Game of Thrones season 4 trailer debuted last night just before 9pm – and this thing is juicy. Packed with whinging Joffrey, wildlings at the Wall and a glimpse of Prince Oberyn Martell, Dorne’s dangerous Red Viper, season 4 looks to be just as good as the previous seasons.

Check it out for yourself and decide what you think:

Trailer Watch – Transcendence

Transcendence is an eerie look at the theoretical singularity, the moment when artificial intelligence begins to think on its own… outside of human parameters.

Starring Johnny Depp, Kate Mara and Rebecca Hall, this trailer for the upcoming sci-fi/thriller does a great job in setting the tone: starting with a feeling of hope and optimism for the future, the dark and dangerous side effects of a plan-gone-wrong will make you shift uncomfortably in your seat.

What do you think? Promising concept or re-purposed ideas?

Trailer Watch – How to Train Your Dragon 2

One of the best animated (and underrated, in my opinion) movies is finally getting its sequel!

Normally I’m not a fan of stitching instalments onto movies just because they perform well. If it’s going to happen, it should be planned for from the outset – but unfortunately, this is not the way the world works.

Regardless, Dreamworks has a pretty good reputation for putting out good animated stuff, so I’m counting myself excited. With a stellar cast, including Jay Baruchel, Cate Blanchett, Gerard Butler, Jonah Hill, Djimon Hounsou, Kit Harington, Kristen Wiig and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, How to Train Your Dragon 2 is looking like an epic, cling-to-your-dragon adventure. Check out the full trailer below:

Trailer Watch – Community Season 5

If you’re a Community fan, you’re eagerly anticipating the arrival of season 5 – more Greendale, more study group, more timelines, more Dan Harmon!

But maybe you’ve been busy – it’s the holidays, after all, and everyone’s schedules are on crack. Maybe you’ve missed one hell of a trailer.

Don’t worry, fellow Greendalian – we’ve got your back. Below lies an entire 2 minutes and 31 seconds of something that is so wonderfully beyond the ragtag study group of earlier seasons, it’s almost not recognizable. I present to you: the Community season 5 trailer:

Trailer Watch – Edge of Tomorrow

Hollywood has a total hard-on for sci-fi movies. And that’s just fine.

The latest offering comes on the mechanized shoulders of a professionally-confused Tom Cruise and a completely badass Emily Blunt. In Edge of Tomorrow, Cruise and Blunt become caught up in a time loop, forcing them to live, die and repeat a battle against an invading alien threat.

Now, I’m certainly not the biggest Tom Cruise fan – in fact, I’m probably one of the smallest – but Emily Blunt’s performance in the trailer is super captivating for me. There are a lot of bad sci-fi movies out there, but with great visuals, an intriguing concept and a boss trailer soundtrack, I can honestly say I’m stoked for Edge of Tomorrow.
