YouTuber Ten Second Songs has created an amazing video of Katy Perry hit “Dark Horse” sung in 20 different styles.
Even if you’re a straight-up Katy Perry fan (or, maybe you just secretly like “Roar“), this video is so much fun. It features a huge range of styles, everything from Frank Sinatra, to ‘N Sync to Iron Maiden. Oh, and the singer nails every style. This guy has PIPES, friends!
The B and I are pretty close: I groove to her tunes, she sings them unaware. I petition her to do the Single Ladies dance with a mash-up of my favourite superheroes (can you imagine?), she…goes about her day, completely unaware.
Okay, so this thing is kind of a one-way street. Good thing I have other friends!
Thankfully Scott Bradlee‘s heard my prayers and done what he does best – classy song remixes. Check out his swing redo of Beyonce’s “Drunk in Love” featuring awesome vocalist Christina Gatti! I dare you to not snap your fingers along with this little ditty.
P.S. You snapped your fingers, didn’t you? BUSTED.
If you have a fear of ear worms, you might want to stop here – this one’s a doozy.
Pharrell Williams’ new song “Happy” burned up the stage at the Oscars this year and got everything toe-tapping and smile-cracking, which was in retrospect the perfect sort of vibe for a show hosted by my girl Ellen.
So catchy and feel-good is this thing that a Tunisian Star Wars fan club has created a video of cosplayers boogeying down on Tatooine… orrr the filming locations of the movies in the Tunisian dessert. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face! Who knew Tusken Raiders could be so smooth?
Brethren and wenches, gather ’round: this one’s so crazy, you can’t make it up.
If there wasn’t enough going on in the Seven Kingdoms and Essos, or enough outside of it with behind-the-scenes footage, new trailers and fresh posters, the HBO machine is set to pump out a Game of Thrones rap mixtape just in time for season 4.
No. That is not a typo. A Game of Thrones. Rap. Mixtape.
According to an article on Vibe.com, rappers Wale, Common, Daddy Yankee, Big Boi, Bodega Bamz and Snow Tha Product are working on Catch the Throne, detailing the events and themes of the series to date.
I don’t know about you, but I personally want to see some accompanying music videos – Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Jack Gleeson and Emilia Clarke lip-syncing to beats in character would probably blow up the Internet.
The track will be released on Soundcloud sometime before the season 4 premiere on April 6th. In the meantime, witness this promo to prove this whole post isn’t an early April Fool’s prank:
UPDATE: Catch the Throne has just been released on Soundcloud!
This really goes to show that no matter how long ago you did something perhaps a little odd on camera, it isn’t safe from today’s jokesters. Even if it was in 1993. And you’re Jeff Goldblum.
Avclub.com has just released an article highlighting a strange and brilliant remix of Goldblum’s laugh from the original Jurassic Park movie. Created by Soundcloud user FLIPSH0T, the track is 3 minutes of trippy break-beat chortling that wouldn’t be out of place in any club. Check it out for yourself:
Level up in awesomeness!
I love it when old meets new, and when it involves video games, that’s even better. An ancient Chinese instrument called the “sheng” (which kind of looks like the Capitol, no?) is apparently the perfect – and I mean the perfect – instrument to play the Super Mario Bros. theme on!
Part of me wants to believe they just used this to get the original sound effects in the first place… Mind. Blown.
Waaaay back (all right, so maybe not so far back), I got to cameo in a Tron-esque music video by my friends The Royal Bees!
Now they’ve just released a brand new music video and song “Baby Bump” spoofing Park Slope moms and their obsession with babies… and this stuff is HOT!
Also totally NSFW. But that’s what makes it so good! Have a lookee:
Think Pokémon’s for kids? Better check that attitude at the door, ’cause Second City‘s just pumped out a music video that gets REAL.
I’m a Pokémon superfan so this rap made my head spin when I saw it! So good! There’s no doubt about it – these guys have massive Masterballs. Check it out:
If you’re turned off by the title of this post, don’t blame me – it’s right from the song. Having refreshed my Mario Kart 64 and Star Wars Episode I: Racer skills on my own console last night, I knew as soon as I saw this that more people needed to see this.
In this soon-to-be holiday classic, Brian Firenzi of Video Game High School fame lays down a stoic beat about the intense desire for an N64 under the tree at Christmas. And while he may have missed the sleigh this year, there’s always next to hope for, yeah?
Also, why aren’t there more N64 raps out there?
‘Tis the season for cheer and Christmas carols, but, uh… what happens when you’re warping through the depths of space far from home? What season is it then?
I imagine this is a typical problem for the crew of the Enterprise, many of whom would love to let it snow. But there isn’t snow in deep space either! So what’s a member of Starfleet to do?
Luckily, Picard and his stalwart crew of officers has the solution:
