Assembling the Avengers…
Guy and I just had an INFURIATING argument over who would be the ideal Avengers roster. I liked the one from the movie, but he had other ideas…
I decided we should film a vlog about the debate, so we did! I’ll edit it, and try to get it up tomorrow at some point!
As for asking him about the internet classes…I didn’t get an invite, nor did I have the courage to ask for one. BUT I did find out that Mother has been chatting away on her online dating site and having a blast! AND Guy did set up a BSG meet-up group for her, which she was less enthusiastic about but she’s going along with it anyways.
No nibbles there yet, but I’m sure they’re a’comin’ soon! I mean, WHO DOESN’T LIKE BSG???
Gettin’ the juice!
I’m about to get the juice in two, uh, juicy ways!
1) Guy and I are meeting up for brunch and comics! I’m feeling a fruity smoothie today…
AND
2) I’m going to get all the juicy details about my mother’s internet classes with Guy! I love hearing about them. She seems to be having so much fun! Him too, actually. It’s a pretty unlikely combination, especially considering how much she hated him back when we were in high school. But I guess times change!
I would actually love to attend one of their internet learnin’ parties…but haven’t received an invitation. Would it be rude to ask? Maybe I’ll ask today if it feels right.

BSG to the rescue!!
GUY HAD AN AMAZING IDEA!
Okay, so right now Mother still wants to make new friends online…but she’s finding it too daunting, right? We’ve all been there. The internet is a vast and intimidating place and you don’t always know where to look first.
BUT Guy suggested that he make mother a meet-up group for fans of BSG who are over 40. That way mother can meet some people with whom she shares common interests, and it won’t be as scary!
Okay…now for the only scary part: getting her to agree to this. :S

Good afternoon! I hope you had a good weekend!
I went to TCAF yesterday during the day and it was AWESOME! I can’t believe it’s a free event! So many amazing artists and writers like Chester Brown, Pendleton Ward, Bryan Lee O’Malley and Seth, with lots of cool indie artists too! I got some of my comics signed and I bought this cool new book which was great. Very haunting.
All in all, a GREAT way to spend a Sunday!
But in the evening I spoke with my mother and got some conflicting news. On one hand I’m happy for her because she’s going on a date with a promising individual she met online and it’s ALL she can talk about right now. She’s REALLY excited.
On the other hand, I asked her how the whole online “friend meeting” thing is going. Initially she had been all excited about it, and it was the whole reason why she wanted to learn how to use the internet…but now it’s kinda fallen by the way side. She said that it seems too complicated to meet new friends online, and that it probably wouldn’t have worked anyways. She’ll hopefully just meet new people through this potential new beau. But that’s what she always does! So many of the jerky, non-dependable friends in her life have come from ex-boyfriends! But you can’t really say this to her. She gets SUPER defensive.
I’m not sure what to do…but I’m seeing Guy tonight after work. Maybe he’ll have some ideas since he’s her new best friend and all.

Party time!
Just got off work and feelin’ the need to get jiggy! (Might have overplayed Will Smith for myself this morning)
I thought about it more at work today, and I’m not ready to get back out in the dating scene right now. I’m enjoying this whole “focusing on me” thing that Guy turned me on to. Soooo…tonight I’m going to go out and celebrate! Tonight is the third annual TCAFête! There’ll be dancing, drinking, socializing, and live drawing demonstrations from Toronto Comic artists! It’s like all my favourite things are having an orgy!

Just can’t stop…
At the moment I can’t stop two things:
1) Listening to this song. It gives me a strangely euphoric feeling.
2) Contemplating making an online dating profile for myself! My mother seems to be having a lot of fun…maybe I should do one too?
Hmmm…need to think about this more while listening to Fresh Prince remixes.

I found out the juicy gossip that my mother had been chatting about with Guy last night!
SHE HAS AN ONLINE DATING PROFILE…AND SHE LOVES IT!
Guy set her up with one during their first internet session, and now’s she’s really gotten the hang of it! She’s rating people, sending flirtatious messages, and is even considering one of these gentlemen for a date! My mother, the internet user…weird. I have to admit I never saw this day coming and I’m actually quite proud of her.
But I thought she wanted new friends, not a new man. She didn’t mention once about looking out for a new group of friends online. Isn’t that important too? In my opinion friends sorta come first, don’t they?
