Apparently, there’s nothing he ant do. Marvel has confirmed that Michael Douglas will play size-changing scientist Hank Pym in 2015′s Ant-Man.
Set to be directed by Edgar Wright, generally applauded for pumping out some great movies including Hot Fuzz, Shawn of the Dead and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Douglas was apparently flip-flopping on the decision before having a “change of heart over the holidays.” Obviously the Christmas cheer got to him (good job, Christmas cheer).
What’s interesting is Wright’s take on things – Ant-Man himself will actually be spanning two people: Douglas as the original Hank Pym, and Paul Rudd as torch-taker-upper Scott Lang after Pym’s retirement.
While it’s easier to make a bad superhero movie than a good one (actually, the same goes for any movie, period), I’ve got faith in Mr. Wright and co.
Ant-Man is slated for release in July, 2015.
