I don’t know what it’s like where you are, but in my home-sweet-home of Toronto, winter is in full effect (even though it technically still isn’t winter!). Needless to say, it’s kind of a bummer.
Luckily, I’ve found the solution: DANCE PARTY TIME! And what better shindig than the fan favourite variety? Let’s all work on our sick, sick moves by studying the (fictional) greats of gettin’ down on the dance floor.
1. Scott “Squishy” Squibbles, Monsters University
What Mr. (Monster?) Squibbles misses in technique, he more then makes up for in enthusiasm:
2. The New Kids on the Block Cartoon
Since early 90s fashion seems to be back (see: literally everything at American Apparel), it makes sense that those early 90s dance moves are making their way back too. So, why not be ahead/behind of the curve with these oddly action figure like moves?
3. Peanuts Gang
Who knew that the Peanuts troupe were such dance pioneers? Look at Linus, he’s practically a founding member of Stomp:
Bonus – this move is totally my jam:
4. Elaine Benes
If you want to have the most fun at the party while simultaneously clearing the dance floor, these are the moves to use. There is nothing in the known world more effective… because there is no one quite like the Benes:
5. Calvin and Hobbes
A round-up of animated dances really wouldn’t be complete without the mention of Calvin and Hobbes. Though they’ve never been officially animated (which everyone is okay with), Bill Watterson really had a talent for infusing his strips with movement… which we’ll celebrate with actual movement below:
Holiday party peeps don’t stand a chance! Now get out there and tear it up, nerds! Just… watch the arm flailing. You can hurt someone.
A, um… friend told me so.
