I recently came across a brilliant little film called The Flying Man by writer/director Marcus Alqueres, and I find myself still thinking about it today. Answer: gotta share.
The short is steeped in superhero culture, and with any good superhero movie, it’s not about the fight scenes, the action or the effects – not entirely, anyway. Those things have to be solid for the audience to really believe in what’s going on, but good superhero stuff is about ethics, morality and making the right choice when there’s no clear choice to be made.
The Flying Man does exactly that in a really down-to-earth, dark and gritty way – think the vibe of The Dark Knight on a smaller scale. I highly recommend the watch:
