When I told her about my vow to stop dating for the next six months…SHE AGREED!
My mother agreeing with me is something that happens in about…um…I don’t know…once in a millennia! But she thinks it’ll be good for me to take a little time off from dating. She thinks it’ll be a good opportunity to “date myself”, which is apparently something she’s been trying to do since her break-up with Mark.
In her opinion, it’s important to get to know yourself and your own interests before you put yourself out there for dating. That way, if you’re secure in yourself, you won’t become too dependent on the other person, and you can just enjoy each other’s company with less pressure on the relationship. Makes sense.
I’m proud of my mother. She’s back to her strong, independent self. And I think a little independence and self-love sound like just the thing for me too! :)
