I had a “nice” lunch with my mother today.
I put nice in quotations because she wasn’t in the best of moods like I expected. I can understand that she’s hurt that Mark didn’t propose…but what’s the rush? It’s not like they broke up. I just wish Mother wouldn’t be in such a hurry to get remarried. Can’t they just see how it goes?
This is exactly what I told her, but she won’t buy it. She’s too impatient and eager to move to the next level. And I’m worried this might cost her the whole thing! Or at least sour it beyond repair…
As her daughter, can I legally prescribe her a Xanax?
Anyways, one good thing came out of it. Mother is apparently happy that Mark is so strong and willful! The fact that they butted heads in Paris isn’t what’s getting her down at all. If anything she says that Mark being as strong-willed as her is a turn on!
I sincerely never hope I hear my mother use the phrase “turn on” ever again…but I’m happy that she’s “excited” by Mark’s personality! *shudder*
I told her to tell him this. I’m sure he’d be glad to know that she likes him for who he is, even it means they’ll have the odd fight. Being loved for who you are is the best!
